WE hope readers take note of the essential info contained in our special eight-page storm survival guide inside today's edition.

While we have already had a taste of what the darker side of summer can dish out on the Downs and Granite Belt we can be quite sure there will be more to come once summer is officially here next week.

Check out the full feature online and get prepared

We all know there are some simple jobs we can do to prepare our homes for the thunderstorm season but let's face it, we don't always get around to them, especially as Christmas approaches.

Events of recent years show that while ours is not a coastal community cyclones and thunderstorms and flooding can still wreak plenty of havoc in our pat of the world.

Fortunately we have some very dedicated volunteers in our SES and some highly-skilled emergency services personnel for when things go awry.

Our thanks to Suncorp for coming on board with this feature and stay safe when the wild weather hits.
