Police allegedly hit Greens MP with sexist, racist comments

A NSW Greens MP has called for police who allegedly posted sexist and racist comments to her Facebook page to be investigated.

Newtown MP Jenny Leong said offensive posts were made on her social media page by people she alleges were police officers.

Ms Leong said the offensive posts were made after she introduced a bill to State Parliament aiming to end the police use of drug sniffer dogs in public places without a warrant.

The offensive posts allegedly made by officers included Ms Leong's profile picture with the words "One condom could have prevented this from happening". Four other police employees then liked that post.

Other posts including calling Ms Leong a "swamp donkey". Ms Leong has referred the matter to the Police Integrity Commission.

A NSW police spokesman told the ABC an investigation into the allegations had begun.
