Plea from dead man's sister seeks help finding his car

Contributed

THE sister of the man whose remains were found in Toolara State Forest has appealed to people to help recover his car.

Sheridan Mollenhauer has shared a Facebook post with images of her brother Shaun Barker's blue Kia Rio which has not been recovered despite being missing for the past six months.

"Please share this post, it only takes one person to see this and it would be one (piece to the puzzle)," the post read.

"Please, please, please share.

"The front of his car was slightly damaged," it said.

"Have you bought parts from anyone on the Gold Coast selling Kia parts?"

The desperate post joins an appeal from police for anyone who may have information about the missing blue Kia Rio with registration 518-TBV to contact them.

Mr Barker's skull and some smaller bones were found in the forest by forestry workers on April 10.

The find sparked two large searches of that part of the forest, accessible from Cooloola Coast Rd.

Mr Barker had been reported missing from the Gold Coast since December 10, 2013.

Police said they were treating Mr Barker's death as a homicide, confirming he likely met with foul play.

They are also appealing for anyone who saw Mr Barker in the days leading up to December 10 to contact them, as well as anyone who may have information about both him or his car.

Mr Barker's is one of two suspicious deaths currently being investigated from the Gympie region.
