Turner prepares to go overseas

GYMPIE Karate Club instructor Noel Turner is preparing to embark on a trip to the United States to sharpen his skills.

Sensei Turner, chief instructor of Australia, heads to the Anaheim in America shortly for the Japan Karate Do Ryobu-Kai International Gasshuku for a fortnight.

Sensei Turner will train with Senior Sensei Yamasaki and special guests Sensei Yoshimi Inoue and Sensei Katsuhiro Tsuyama.

Also in attendance will be chief instructors from 28 countries around the world.

Club spokesperson Leanne Wade said attending the event was a massive achievement for Sensei Turner.

“This will be a great achievement, benefiting the clubs in Australia with the knowledge he will learn and be able to pass on upon his return,” she said.

“Sensei Turner will be honoured to meet all the chief instructors from each country, which is just one part of this experience.”

Gympie Karate Club students, meanwhile, will eagerly await Sensei Turner’s return.
