70 years of Scout Camp ‘Kiwi Woggle’
Kiwi Woggle is the oldest Scout competition camp (for 11-14 year old boys and girls) running in Queensland. Running over the four days of Easter the camp involving teams in Patrols competing for a perpetual trophy, the "Kiwi Woggle" by way of participation in activities, camping and teamwork challenges.
This year Kiwi Woggle Camp is being conducted at Dunethin Rock Scout Campground at Maroochy River and the theme is "Living in the 70s" to celebrate its 70 years of operation.
The Kiwi Woggle trophy is named after David Thain Weir "Kiwi" an infamous Queensland Scout who dedicated over 20 years to being a Leader.
The trophy is modelled on his woggle which is the holder for the Scout scarf to keep it secured around the neck.
This year Scouts will be attending from Landsborough, Palmwoods, The Gap, Noosa, Caloundra, Cooroy, Nambour, Yandina, Gympie, Kingaroy, Imbil- Mary Valley, Woombye, Maroochydore, Kawana and Kepnock.
Almost a generation of Scouts in South East Queensland have now attended Kiwi Woggle competition camps and "Kiwi" has personally attended many as an honoured visitor.
