55-year-old man serious but stable after alleged stabbing

A 29-YEAR-OLD woman is in the Warwick watchhouse following an incident in which a man was allegedly stabbed at Goomburra on Saturday.

It will be alleged that about 6.15pm a man and a woman were involved in a physical altercation at a Halls Rd address when the man sustained an apparent stab wound to his abdomen.

The 55-year-old man was transported by ambulance to Warwick Hospital and was to be airlifted to Brisbane.

Due to weather conditions on Saturday night, the helicopter was not able to land so the man was transported by Warwick ambulance to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A hospital spokesman said yesterday the man was in a stable condition after surgery on Saturday night.

"He is expected to make a full recovery," he said.

A woman was charged with one count of unlawful wounding and is due to appear in court today.

Police were initially called to the Freedom Fuel outlet at Allora where a car carrying the injured man pulled up.

A man was also in the Warwick watchhouse last night after being arrested at Goondiwindi. He allegedly eluded police while driving at high speed from Toowoomba to Warwick and Goondiwindi in a stolen car.
