Big bucks for place in footy photo

IT WAS a bidding frenzy yesterday morning as Gympie league fans tried to buy a place in Broncos history.

The bids jumped from Thursday's highest figure of $630 to an amazing level.

At noon yesterday Fiona Jones was the highest bidder with a call of $1600.

She will now go to Brisbane to be included in the Broncos team photo and receive a framed copy signed by captain Sam Thaiday and coach Anthony Griffin.

The money from the auction goes to Broncos development officer Darren Burns's Junior Development program.

Burns was blown away by the response yesterday and thanked everyone for bidding on the prize.

He said the picture would be a one-off and was well worth the money.

He will meet Fiona at the Broncos Red Hill home base on Wednesday and introduce her to the team.

Burns thanked everyone who bid for the photo experience and said it had been a success.
