Unlicensed, on drugs and behind the wheel

AROONA man Jason Neil Graham was fined more than $1000 and disqualified for six months after he pleaded guilty yesterday in Gympie Magistrates Court to two traffic charges.

The court heard he was caught driving unlicensed on Hyne St on March 15, after being charged with driving under the influence of drugs in Mackay on August 30, 2013.

When Mackay police pulled Graham over he couldn't sit still, had a dry mouth and had large pupils following a binge on "speed".

He was pulled over in the Gympie McDonald's car park on a warrant for the Mackay charge on March 15, and further charged with unlicensed driving.

The court heard in the time between August 30 and March 15 Graham returned from where he used to live in Mackay to Gympie and wasn't aware blood tests confirming drug driving had been returned to police and charges had officially been laid.

He told the court he was now working on a drug-free life in Gympie.
