Gympie St Pat's day a craic up

IF YOU find your feet tapping when you hear the music of River Dance, then you won't want to miss the St Patrick's Day Craic on Saturday, March 17 the Gympie Civic Centre.

And if you need to ask what a craic is, then you definitely need to come along and learn firsthand what it means to be Irish on St Patrick's Day.

Craic is a Gaelic word with no exact English translation; the closest you can get is "fun", and is pronounced "crack". Although you won't find craic in a standard English dictionary, Google it and 42,500 listings come up so there's a lot of craic out there and there'll be lots more in Gympie this year on St Patrick's Day.

At the Gympie Craic you'll enjoy music by Gympie's own Celtic Boyos, feast on a traditional three-course Irish dinner, laugh along with Brian Doyle, renowned speaker and six-time winner of Australian Comedian of the ,and then you can dance the night away before you go home with your own souvenir Guinness glass as a memento of an evening you'll never want to forget.

Naturally, the Gympie Craic was organised by Gympie's very own Irishman, Coman Reynolds of Gympie Funerals, who is also a Rotarian. The Gympie Craic is supported by the combined Rotary clubs of Gympie and Cooloola, NAB and The Gympie Times and all proceeds will go to support Little Haven Palliative Care, a not-for-profit specialist community-based palliative care service unique to the Gympie/Cooloola area, offering specialist home care nursing and respite to individuals facing terminal illness and their families over a 3000 sq km area.
