Ambulance crew treat a man who was knocked off his bike by a kangaroo on his way home from night shift.
A GYMPIE man is in hospital with severe injuries after a kangaroo knocked him off his motorbike at Goomboorian on Thursday morning.
The man was riding home from nightshift along Tin Can Bay Rd at about 1.30am when a kangaroo leapt out in front of him.
He told paramedics he had taken evasive action, lying the motorbike onto its side as it collided with the kangaroo, his right leg ending up pinned between the bike and road.
Gympie ambulance paramedics treated the 52-year-old for severe injuries, including multiple fractures, and took him to Archery Park where the AGL Action Rescue helicopter was waiting.
The flight doctor and paramedic stabilised the man before airlifting him to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition.
