COMMUNITY Group Care Outreach has joined the list of people collecting items to help the flood-ravaged town of Mitchell.
They are urgently collecting items which will be trucked out on Saturday.
Donations are needed for fuel and vouchers and toiletries and bottled water.
Speaking from Mitchell, former-Gympie resident Cherryl Williams said enclosed shoes of all sizes for children and adults were also needed.
Only about 15 homes were spared when floodwaters swept through the small town on Wednesday morning.
Ms Williams said people had lost everything, were exhausted and had just escaped with the clothes on their backs.
The Gympie Gymnastics Club is also collecting goods, including furniture. Phone 0423509823 or 54829033 to donate. They are also organising a working bee this weekend.
To give to Care Outreach phone 54454966 before Saturday.
