Bree Fern with organic farmer Avi Mishtler, who will open up his property to the public on Saturday.
ORGANIC farmers Avi and Zehavit Mishtler are hosting a Bio-Organic open day at their Uki farm this weekend.
Deciding to open their property to the public was a simple decision, allowing them to share their passion for organic food and discuss coal seam gas mining.
Mrs Mishtler said people were always interested in how the farm worked and they were happy to give people a closer look.
“People are interested in organic farming so we open to the public and show people what we do,” Mrs Mishtler said.
“Lots of people have lots of questions so Avi is going to walk around the farm showing people everything.”
Mrs Mishtler said there would also be a guest speaker explaining the dangers of coal seam gas mining.
“The chemicals from this mining leak into the ground causing organic farmers to lose their licence, it’s very dangerous,” she said.
Originally from Israel, the couple fell in love with the Tweed shire when holidaying here 10 years ago.
Open day:
