Seeking legal advice

QUEENSLAND Transport has some questions to answer after a young woman was charged for driving while her licence was suspended a few days before she received the official notice in the mail.

A 29-year-old Gympie woman presented her case to Gympie Magistrate Maxine Baldwin and said a letter informing her of the suspension arrived in her mailbox three days after she was charged. On top of that, the letter dated November 8 and stated her licence had been suspended from November 3.

The court heard the woman had lost her points and opted for a one-point good behaviour driving option prior to this, which she breached when caught speeding. However, she was told her licence wasn’t automatic suspended and a letter would be posted to her with the date it would be suspended. The matter was adjourned to Monday for her to get legal advice.
