Wildlife crusader Bob Irwin.
WILDLIFE crusader Bob Irwin will be special guest at the opening of the Save the Mary Museum and River Education Centre at Kandanga on Sunday.
The museum, located at the old headquarters of the Save the Mary River Co-ordinating Group, will feature a storyboard about the community campaign to overturn the decision to build a dam on the Mary River, while the river education section focuses on the unique flora and fauna of the Mary, and provides information on the environment from the top of the catchment through the Mary River estuary to the Great Sandy Strait.
Those keen to attend the opening can arrive there in true Mary Valley style by Riding the Rattler from Gympie to Kandanga; phone 5482 2750 for details.
A light lunch will be available at the 11.30am event with music and entertainment afterwards.
The museum and education centre are open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm or by prior arrangement by phoning 5488 4800.
