Gympie Betta Electrical store owner John Jeffries has given persmission for a barbeque in the store’s car park this weekend to raise funds for barrel racing competitors Kathy Kunst and Tamika Anderson (circled).

BETTA Electrical store owner John Jeffries has helped Gympie barrel racing competitors Cathy Kunst and Tamika Anderson with fundraising to compete in the United States.

Kunst and Anderson have made Australian teams set to compete in the National Barrel Horse Association World Championships after qualifying earlier this year.

It is the first time Kunst has made the Australian team for the World Championships, while Anderson is lining up for the second year in a row, although this time she is taking part in the Youth Championships.

Kunst will travel to Perry, Georgia, in October, while Anderson flies out in July for Jackson, Mississippi.

The pair has been busy carrying out fundraising activities to fund the trip.

Jeffries has given the pair the use of the Betta Electrical car park to conduct a sausage sizzle and raffle to raise funds. Drinks will also be on sale.

Anderson’s mother Kerry was grateful for the assistance.

“It’s a massive help and we really appreciate it,” she said.

“The trip carries a lot of cost so all this goes a long way towards helping cover some of the expense.

“Also, a big thank you to Shaw’s Meats at Centro for donating the sausages.”

The public is encouraged to attend the barbeque in aid of two special athletes this Saturday, from 8.30am to 11am.
