Hot undies ends in court

A WOMAN who rubbed chilli in the pants of her ex-roomy pleaded guilty to common assault yesterday.

A WOMAN who rubbed chilli in the pants of her ex-roomy pleaded guilty to common assault yesterday.

Police found out about the incident after talking to the complainant at a Rainbow Beach home where the defendant also lives.

The room mate told police on June 19, after they were called to the home.

He made a complaint about stealing first, and then alleged that after a verbal argument with Amanda Jane Stevens, 36, she rubbed the chilli on his underwear.

Stevens of Cooloola Drive, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Lisa Manns said the complainant sought compensation for pain and suffering.

The court heard he put on his underwear but after a few minutes, felt a burning sensation on his genitals and rushed to the doctors and had suffered pain and discomfort.

After making inquiries to the other residents at the home, he found out Stevens had rubbed the chilli on his pants.

Stevens' solicitor Chris Anderson said the single mother could not recall what the argument was about.

Magistrate Neil Lavaring said there must have been something going on and asked if the complainant and defendant had been having a relationship.

Mr Andersen said they were never together, but Stevens had given the complainant and his girlfriend a place to stay.

He said the argument was between all three of them.

“What's going on here ...You don't do that for nothing,” Magistrate Lavaring said.

But Stevens remained tight lipped about the whole event and did not divulge her reasons.

Due to Stevens' lack of criminal history she had no conviction recorded, but Magistrate Lavaring said no compensation would be awarded as the complainant and defendant had wasted enough of the court's time.

He said instead, Stevens could pay the court for the waste of time, and fined her $400.
