MUSTER ON: The 25th anniversary Muster is shaping up to be the biggest and best ever.
THE Gympie Country Music Muster, discovery of gold in Queensland, the macadamia nut and Fraser Island all “icons” of this region have won their way onto the Q150 icons list.
These landmarks in this state's history are among the people, places and events that Queenslanders have voted as their Q150 icons.
Premier Anna Bligh yesterday released the official list of 150 icons, across 10 categories, as voted by Queenslanders.
The 10 categories are: State-shapers; Influential artists; Sports legends; Locations; Natural attractions (Fraser Island 2); Structures and engineering feats; Defining moments (Gold discovered in Queensland 8); Innovations and inventions; Events and festivals (Country Music Muster 7); 10 Typically Queensland (macadamia nut 9).
Ms Bligh said the list of Q150 icons will be added to the official Q150 Archive at the State Library and 15,000 lucky Queenslanders have the opportunity to win a commemorative Q150 Icons Post Card Pack (see Page 11).
