Final chance for reserve grade

MINERS reserve grade soccer coach Terry Nolan is calling on his side to put away their chances today against Maroochydore as they hope to convert their remaining chance at making the final.

Buderim stormed their way into the grand final last weekend after surviving a scare against Gympie in a game that was decided in extra time.

It was disappointing for Gympie given the sides had chances to finish the game in normal time but made what Nolan described as a series of "poor decisions on the field".

"The game was there for us to take. But it has been our problem all year to just fail to make good of our opportunities," Nolan said.

Meanwhile, Maroochydore outlasted Kawana for the right to play Gympie as the side desperately clings on to their hopes for grand final glory.

Today's game against Maroochydore is sudden death and Nolan predicts a close battle.

"We have played Maroochydore a few times this year and we have had mixed results," he said.

Against Maroochydore Gympie has won once and been beaten twice.

Nolan said there were concerns about the side backing up after a physically demanding game against Buderim.

"There is a worry about the side's fitness after the extra time game against Buderim. We will really have to wait and see how the boys back up," he said.

"There is expectation and hopes for us to do well, but we are just staying focused on our game and doing what we need to do to win this game."

Today's game against Marochydore will be played at Beeges at 5.15pm. The bus leaves at 2.30pm.
