HUGE crowds soaked up the terrific atmosphere at yesterday's Pre-Muster party, with the day's success delighting organisers.

Scott Gate from Blue and Gold Event Management Services said he was very pleased with the way the party unfolded. "Everyone was into it," he said.

"Denise Toreenbeek did a great job at sourcing artists for the stages in Mary Street.

"Because she works at the Muster she can tap into the artists who are coming to the Muster and that is fantastic.

"There were some brilliant up-and-coming artists performing in the street with some of the best voices I've heard in a long time."

Scott said the feedback he got from people watching the artists and checking out the shops was very positive.

"They were saying that they had a ball and it was a great day that was well worth the effort of attending."

He said popular local entertainers Graeme Jensen and Peter Teed "had a great time" doing what they do best and their enthusiasm was contagious.

"There were huge crowds watching them."

Scott said he was impressed by the "good crowds" from 9.30am.

"People of all ages filled the streets well before the entertainment got under way.

"As an organiser you hope an event will be successful but the crowds were fantastic."

Three stages were set up in Mary Street ? Gold City Stage, Tommyrockers stage, Musicland stage and Imperial stage ? to host artists including Rod Dowsett, Casey Watt, Nellie Donovan, Paul Costa, Darren Colston, Amber Lawrence, Nik Phillips, Rockwallaby, Gemma Doyle, Greg Atherton, Bobcatz and Nellie Donovan.

Local pubs also hummed with Pre-Muster partygoers having the time of their lives.

Yesterday's Pre-Muster party was the second consecutive year that Scott and business partner Jason Riddell were at the helm but they are already planning for the 2007 street party.

"It will be bigger and better still," Scott said.

The party went through until 8.30pm last night with the highlight being the Muster promotion prizes draws.
