Beating winter's blues
WINTER'S almost here and the dreaded sniffle season has already started, but there's no need to stress with some healthy and simple ways to stop colds and flu.
Barbara Tiplady from The Wild Harvest Company in Reef St said it was important to look after yourself especially when the body was impacted with stress.
Although the simplest way to ward of colds is to eat a clove of garlic a day, Ms Tiplady said not everybody could stomach it fresh and that was where supplements came in handy.
"Eat your citrus fruits through winter. Have lemon in your water in the mornings to help alkaline your body and get plenty of rest," she suggested.
"All my fruit and veg is certified organic. We have fresh garlic and lemon and sell a few supplements."
While it's best to get all your nutrients from food, busy lifestyles and smoking make it harder to stay healthy - Ms Tiplady said smoking depleted the body of Vitamin C
"Stress depletes the body. We all work long hours and it's OK to supplement."
