Town plan makes progress

THE Gympie region's new town plan is undergoing State Government assessment prior to a public consultation process, Gympie Regional Council planning chairman Ian Petersen said on Thursday.

Cr Petersen said the new plan, which will tie together the previously separate planning schemes of Cooloola, Kilkivan and Tiaro shires, is being assessed for its effect on State Government assets and intentions in our area.

"Gympie Regional Council is one of the first few amalgamated councils to have progressed to this stage," he said.

"The new scheme slashes red tape and will be extremely user friendly for both assessment staff and the public," he said.
