Gympie singer Caitlyn Shadbolt wins CMC award

CAITLYN Shadbolt is the toast of Australia's country music scene after winning a CMC Music Award last night.

The Gympie singer was named New Oz Artist of the Year on the Country Music Channel, less than two months after missing out on a similar award at the Golden Guitars to Christie Lamb.

"It's amazing, especially because it's fan voted," our Caitlyn said.

"It means I've got so many supporters out there loving what I do. You can't ask for anything more."

Caitlyn's career has gone from strength to strength since she was a finalist on the 2014 season of The X Factor.

Caitlyn, who is pictured here wearing a gorgeous dress by Gympie designer Cindy Vogel, will be performing at the CMC Rocks festival today.

"It's going to be a big weekend," she said.

"I've been going to CMC Rocks for years and this is my first time performing as an artist.

"It's crazy to think just a couple of years ago I was a fan girl and now I'm a performer. It's amazing."

Caitlyn is currently busy writing songs for her forthcoming album, which will be released later this year after she performs at the CMA Festival in Nashville.

"Every song I've written is just pure motion of what I'm feeling at the time," she said.

"I've been doing a lot of co-writing too and I'd definitely love to do a duet."
