A WOULD-BE drug producer who hid 57 tablets in his undies when police searched his home faced Gympie Magistrates Court this week.
The 40 Codral night tablets and 17 cold and flu tablets were found when Callum Anthony Padaric Cook, 23, was strip searched in custody after two suspicious books and marijuana were found at his Victory Heights home in September.
Cook's lawyer said the books were rare Chemistry books from the 1930s, which had belonged to the man's grandmother who was a chemist.
The police prosecutor said processes used to produce dangerous drugs were highlighted in the books, and could be put into practice.
Magistrate M. Baldwin told Cook the charges were serious when he pleaded guilty to supplying dangerous drugs and substance possession.
She jailed Cook for three months, suspended for two years and ordered the books to be forfeited, despite Cook wanting the keepsakes to remain in the family.
