Miss V8 Supercar success all sewn up

WHEN she heads to the Gold Coast 600 to take on 23 other Miss V8 Supercars contenders, Ipswich stunner Madison Mackenzie might just have the edge on the competition she needs.

This 20-year-old country girl not only grew up with a passion for motorsport, but a mum who can work magic on a Janome.

Ms Mackenzie has progressed through the rounds of the Miss V8 Supercars competition wearing costumes custom-fitted and made by her mum, Kathy, thanks to hours of working away on the sewing machine.

When she competes to become the face of the V8s at the Gold Coast next month, you can rest assured she'll have the kind of look you can't buy in the store.

Madison Mackenzie is preparing to take part in the Miss V8 finals at the Gold Coast with help from her mum Kathy, who makes all of her outfits.

"I think I'll go alright, but I don't mind if I don't win because I just like meeting all the other girls and I'll also catch the races while I'm down there," she said.

"Craig Lowndes is my favourite driver. I met him a few years back and he's just a really nice, down to earth person."

When she's not strutting the catwalk, Madison works as a dental nurse.

She still hasn't ruled out a modelling career if things work out in her favour in October.

Madison will take part in a jam-packed week of promotional appearances, exclusive events, Gold Coast attractions and intensive judging before Miss V8 Supercars 2016 is crowned on October 21. Tickets to the Castrol Gold Coast 600 are available from www.supercars.com/gold-coast.
