SANTA has made his list and checked it twice, making sure this year's combined Santa Fair and Carols in the Park is a festive success.

Gympie Apex president Sam Johnson said preparations were well under way for the December 20 event in Nelson Reserve.

Building on last year's joint event, Santa Fair again is teaming with Carols in the Park for the complete Christmas experience.

Live music will feature with confirmation yesterday that Muster favourite Peter Denahy would perform at the event.

Mr Johnson has also met with Gympie Regional Council representatives to float the idea of a battle of the bands this year with a Christmas twist.

Santa Fair patrons can expect delicious food, live entertainment, rides of the kids and a family friendly atmosphere.

Back on board as a major sponsor this year is Southern Cross X Ray, and Mr Johnson thanked the business for their support.

Following the success of the free community Caitlyn Shadbolt concert in November, Mr Johnson wanted to "keep the ball rolling" on community events.

The combined Santa Fair and Carols in the Park is at 3pm Saturday, December 20 with the Carols in the Park following on from 7pm, before finishing at 8pm.
