Qld coastal regions prepare for extreme heatwave

HIGH temperatures predicted for the region prompted local paramedics to remind residents of the dangers of heat-related illness.

A warning from QAS for coastal communities between Sunshine Coast and Fraser Island to expect temperatures eight to 10 degrees higher than usual over the weekend and early next week means Gympie is in for scorching heat.

Temps in Gympie are expected to rise up to a max of 35 degrees on Tuesday.
