Mother swears at cops as kids scream

THREE children screamed as a female driver struggled with police, after being caught driving unlicensed, Gympie Magistrates Court was told on Monday.

Rebekah Toni Eberhardt pleaded guilty to obstructing police and driving unaccompanied on a learner's permit on November 20 and for driving unlicensed for demerit points on December 4.

Eberhardt said she had taken the children to McDonald's to escape a family dispute.

She was also accused of failing to attend drug diversion on November 12.

Prosecution submissions to the court alleged she had returned from the restaurant, parked in the middle of the street and begun yelling and swearing at police, while her children were still in the car.

"We need to sort you out," Magistrate M Baldwin told Eberhardt on Monday.

Mrs Baldwin imposed a six months licence disqualification for the unlicensed driving charge, 40 hours community service for obstructing police and a combination of six months probation and 40 hours community service for other matters before the court.

In another matter on Monday, Dylan James Bouveng pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis in his shirt pocket, when he attended Gympie police station on December 16.

He had previously been detected driving with cannabis in his system on Tin Can Bay Rd on August 26, the court was told.
