Mental As Anything
Mental As Anything Contributed

MENTAL As Anything may have changed their line-up over the years but the band has remained vibrant in the garage pop music scene and has outlasted many in its' 30-year stint.

The new line-up includes Zoltan Budai on bass guitar and vocals (you know him from bands including  Brian Cadd, Richard Clapton, Russell Morris and Damien Leith) and drummer Jacob Cook, who has played with Eugene "Hideaway " Bridges, internationally recognized rnb vocalist/songwriter Vassy, Robert Susz (Dynamic Hepnotics), Bob Spencer Blues Band, Sirocco and Harper

The new-wave rock band spawned a bunch of top 10 singles including favourites such as "If you leave me, can I come too", "Too many times" and "Live it up".

The band's most popular line-up (which lasted from 1977-1999) was Martin Plaza (real name Martin Murphy) on vocals and guitar; Reg Mombassa (real name Chris O'Doherty) on lead guitar and vocals; his brother Peter "Yoga Dog" O'Doherty onbass guitar and vocals; Wayne "Bird" Delisle (real name David Twohill) on drums; and Andrew "Greedy" Smith on vocals, keyboards and harmonica.

In 2009, Mental As Anything was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame alongside Kev Carmody, The Dingoes, Little Pattie and John Paul Young.
