Editorial: Melbourne Origin just not footy

Editorial: TONIGHT is predicted to be one of the biggest crowds in State Of Origin history.

Game II will be held at the MCG in Melbourne and despite the record breaking potential of the match I can't fathom why we have to play Origin in Victoria.

Melbournians already think they live in the sporting capital of Australia and here we are giving our greatest sporting icon to them for the night. It's a joke. To me, Origin should be played in either Brisbane or Sydney, no where else.

You don't see Melbourne letting Brisbane, Sydney of for that matter Gympie host the Melbourne Cup or an AFL final.

They're not that stupid.

They know that people will travel to go to their iconic events yet we give up our greatest sporting clash on a regular basis.

So while I hope it's a record crowd tonight I hope the NRL rethinks the Melbourne move in future years, unless we can swap it for the Cup.
