Major award for the Gympie Times

YOUR local daily newspaper, The Gympie Times, was awarded the prestigious PANPA Newspaper of the Year on Thursday night.

The Gympie Times' editor Craig Warhurst accepted the award on behalf of the newspaper at a gala dinner in Sydney. He said it was a great honour for the paper to be judged the best community paid daily in Australasia.

PANPA judges highlighted the great work of The Gympie Times over the past 12 months.

They said: "A great paper that seems to cover all aspects of the community, and seems deservedly entrenched with the area's fabric as a result.

"The GT is one of the more entrepreneurial newspapers I have seen in years.

"Excellent engagement strategies, versatile print products, high quality/ratio of content and good use of social media.

"The Gympie Times should be proud... Great job! And a top quality submission."

In a stellar week for the paper, the latest national circulation figures show The Gympie Times had the best result of any paper in the country for the third quarter in a row.
