IT DIDN'T take long for 2015 to follow suit from Caitlyn Shadbolt's extraordinary year in 2014.

Yesterday, less than 24 hours after going live, the country songbird's first post-X Factor single took iTunes by storm.

Caitlyn announced the release of her single, Maps out the Window, to iTunes via her Facebook page yesterday morning and by 3pm it was number one on the iTunes country charts, topping Taylor Swift.

After announcing "Surprise! My single is out now!" on Facebook in the morning, she followed up her post by declaring "Number One! Oh my goodness thank you so much everyone!".

"I cannot thank you enough for your support," the elated rising star posted from the Tamworth County Music Festival.

The good news was met with plenty of support on her Facebook page, with fans sending well wishes, and one loyal follower even asking her to escort him to his Year 12 formal.

The release of the upbeat tune has been anticipated by fans for weeks, with the country princess hinting its pending launch on January 6.

The news came with a photo offering a sneak peak into her up-coming film clip, which features Caitlyn dressed by Mary St clothing store Unearthed Streetwear.

The former Gympie school girl, already a household name, has spent the past week in Tamworth, gracing the stage and making appearances on several occasions.

Next, she will perform at the Australia Day Celebrations at the National Museum Australia in Canberra.

Well done Caitlyn!
