Campbell's sad withdrawal

AUSTRALIAN country music stars will take Glen Campbell's place as Kenny Rogers' special guest during the Grammy legend's Australian tour next month.

The announcement was made yesterday after Campbell pulled out due to illness on Friday.

This was to be Campbell's final Australian tour as he is battling Alzheimer's disease.

And while a press statement, released when the tour was announced, said "so far, this has not affected his performances", it was believed the Alzheimer's had progressed and Campbell was now unfit to travel.

Australian country music stars John Williamson, Beccy Cole, Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley and Sara Storer were quietly announced as Campbell's replacements on Kenny Rogers' official website.

Rogers did not want to speak about his friend's absence from the tour when interviewed.
