GYMPIE country breakout artist Caitlyn Shadbolt has marched to the beat of her drum, releasing her first original single post X Factor.
The single, Maps out the Window, topped the iTunes Country Chart within hours of release in late January.
After much anticipation, Caitlyn revealed the music video to accompany her upbeat and infectious new country tune last night.
Caitlyn was in Tasmania yesterday afternoon preparing for two gigs - one for Relay for Life in Burnie and the other as the Wolfe Brothers' opening act in Hobart - when she spoke with The Gympie Times via phone.
"I can't wait to see what everyone's reactions are to the video," she said."There's been a lot of excitement surrounding the video."
The Gympie singer used a five-day countdown on her website to build the excitement before dropping the video last night.
The video to Maps out the Window was filmed in one day on site in Gosford, near Sydney.
It was a gruelling schedule for the singer, who started her day at 6.30am and did not wrap up until 9pm.
"It was great - so much fun," Caitlyn said.
"I had a vibe and an energy I wanted to get across in the clip and the director was just wonderful to work with.
"Everything just fell into place."
With the single now available on iTunes and the video streaming on the web, Caitlyn is keen for The Gympie Times' reader to help her plan her next move.
The singer confirmed she was in pre-production to produce more material, but was unsure what form that material would take.
"Either an EP (extended play) or an album," Caitlyn said.
"I'm not too sure and I am keen to hear what the readers think."
What should Caitlyn's next move be? Would you rather a fully produced album over an EP? What kind of songs would you like to hear from Gympie's X Factor star? Send suggestions to email@example.com for a follow up.
