AGL chopper airlifts man from prawn trawler

THE AGL Action Rescue Helicopter flew to the aid of a man suffering abdominal and chest pains on a prawn trawler eight nautical miles off Rainbow Beach on Tuesday.

Rescue crewman Tony Preston was winched onto the deck of the vessel and the 35-year-old patient was then winched to the helicopter in a rescue basket where the on-board doctor began treatment.

The man, a Tin Can Bay local,  was airlifted to Nambour General Hospital in a stable conditon.
